Glue books are easy and fun.

Glue Book pages using grocery advertisements..

I enjoy scrapbooking but what I really really like to do is glue books and junk journals. Scrapbooking definitely has its place. It is great for preserving memories and I prefer it for gift giving but when it comes down to whats more fun, the glue book is the winner.

Glue books are a place where you simply glue any thing you want that will fit into a book. Magazine clippings, yarn, receipts, tags, menus, photos, ect.. Anything! It is not structured as much so you can make your glue book 100% random. You may also decide to pick a theme or themes to follow. The ability to do whatever you want on your project's pages without following a layout is what makes it so fun and unique. you never have to worry if your doing it right or if it looks good because its the making of the book and not the final product that is the focus. Another advantage of the glue book is that you don't have to get any special products or spend a lot of money. These books are not meant to last a long like a scrapbook is. Glue books are made as a fun project. You simply find something you like and cut and paste.

The lack of structure and the slacked attitude toward archival quality products makes these kind of books easily accessible for everyone and a great beginner hobby that is relaxing and fun and memorable.

Glue books vs. Junk Journals vs. Scrapbooks vs. Craft books vs. Art Journal

There are many of craft projects out there that are very similar when it comes to scapbooking. I have heard many different explanations for what is considered a scrapbook verses a junk journal versus an art journal, etc..       What I have come to the conclusion is the following...       A scrapbook is a photo album that tells a story. it can have writing describing the photos and what they are about and even little mementos like cards, receipts, ticket stubs, etc.. The thing that I think makes a scrapbook a scrapbook is the structure. Scrapbooks usually have a layout of some sort and are well planned out in order to show the story that it is trying to express through colors, patterns, photos, and other embellishments. Scrapbooks are meant to protect memories and they are assembled with archive quality materials to allow the memories within to last as long as possible. They are often...

Folding papers together and gluing little treasures to the pages. Perhaps you added "cool" stickers or art work and maybe even a story.
